Design Geek: My New Hobby

I’ve always been a little enamored with typography (I think it comes with being a designer), but it’s only recently that I’ve started to delve into the world of hand lettering. I can’t get enough, and I’m so inspired by the amazing talent of the artists who excel at lettering. (If you have no idea what I’m talking about, or you’re curious about the difference between type and lettering, this is a great article to read!)

In fact, it’s my new goal in life to become awesome at it, so I’ll be practicing a lot. And I thought, if I’m going to practice, I might as well share some sketches with you guys along the way! :)

With that in mind, here are a few of the projects I’ve been working on lately:

This one was a special request from my bff... fyi. ;)

I’ll be making a few of my favorites available in my Etsy shop eventually, but for now, I’m just practicing and having fun! It’s nice to get off the computer for a while and get back to hand drawn work for a change. :)

This is AMAZING! I’m so jealous that you have this skill! What program did you use to render these?

Hey Beth! Thank you!! It’s a fun stress reliever for me. :) I actually hand draw them and then scan them into Photoshop to clean up a little and add color.
