Lettering: Progress Over Perfection
By Dawn Sailors In Art & Lettering, Design Geek, Shop Designing DawnAs I’ve mentioned, I have been trying to really focus on getting off the computer lately and getting back to my sketchbook. I’ve grown to really really love hand-lettering over the past few years, and continue to practice as much as possible.
This past week, I was privileged to meet one of my lettering idols, Lauren Hom— creator of Daily Dishonesty among a slew of other awesome things— in person. You know I was totally fan-girling it when I was brave enough to push down my introverted nature and actually strike up a convo.
She gave a great talk at a local design event I attended, and inspired me to put more of my work out there, even if I don’t think it’s perfect. Hence my latest project: ‘Progress Over Perfection’. The perfectionist in me needs this reminder quite often.

If you like this one, I’ve made it available in my Society 6 shop in all kinds of fun applications.
I also added my ‘Scream for Coffee’ drawing over there too, so go grab a coffee mug. (Coffee T-shirts are still available in my Etsy shop.)
