Outfit of the Day: Shoulder Showing

It’s been extremely hot here lately. Melt-your-face-off hot. And don’t-bother-to-fix-your-hair humid. So I’ve been venturing outside of my normal self-imposed no-shoulders-showing-at-work dress code and giving in to the heat.

I’ve mentioned before that I work in a pretty casual office environment. (Us creative types can’ be tied down by silly things like dress codes! ha) There is really no set policy, but I have an internal compass that drives me to look somewhat professional. Which for me means not too much skin. So wearing a tank top to work is a bit out of my comfort zone, but the heat has forced my hand.

This lace vest from Francesca’s is one of my favorite articles of clothing. I felt like it dressed up my new $6 tank top from Old Navy quite nicely, especially with a little added jewelry.

So there’s my summer work look. I relented on the tank tops, but I still can’t bring myself to wear shorts. So jeans, skirts, dresses and the occasional capri will have to round out the bottom half for the season. I’m curious- what do you wear to work when it’s in the triple digits??
