Randoms

Just a few random things I’ve gathered for your Thursday entertainment.

HomeGoods Stylescope

HomeGoods is one of those stores that I’ve never had access to and always dreamed of shopping at. Every time I see a commercial with awesome things at awesome prices, or watch some HGTV designer pick up cheap fashionable accessories for a beautiful room, I longed for the day when I’d be able to do the same. Well, my wishes are coming true, because HG will be coming to Omaha in less than a month. October 14th to be exact. One day before my birthday. Yes, I’ve asked for a shopping spree in lieu of a gift this year. I’ll let you know how it turns out. But back to the point of this paragraph, the HomeGoods website (along with HGTV designer Taniya Nayak) now has a Stylescope quiz you can take to determine your decorating style. And I think it’s awesome.

Everything from the user interface (geeky designer showing) to the social media integration (they have a Pinterest board you can follow for each design style to get ideas) is spot on. They even list blogs you might like depending on your style. And the best part is, this ‘quiz’ consists of nothing more than picking out five photos that make you happy. No long question air or signing up and waiting for an email result. Easy peasy and kinda fun actually.

I’m Sassy… with a touch of Boho. But on my second try (of course I took it twice), I swapped out one image for one that I was debating and got Urban Funk. I think out of the options, those three definitely look the most like my style and home. You should click here to go take it and tell me what you get! And how accurate it is. I love stuff like this.

Awesome Fashion Video

I’ve been holding this in my ‘must share’ list for a while now. I can’t remember now exactly where I saw it first (sorry!! I’ll update if I can find my source again.), but I love it. I’m a sucker for history brought to life, so add in fashion and you’ve got me. I hope you enjoy this montage of historical fashion and dance as much as I do.

Tiny Houses

My friend Jamie (you might remember him from his awesome kitchen renovation, or our barn adventure, or those beautiful bus scrolls he makes by hand) is one of the most creative people I know. In that fearless ‘I can make anything’ kind of way. His latest project is nothing short of astounding really. He’s been constructing a tiny house on wheels (for easy towing around the country). This isn’t your average play-house either. This thing is a real house, just on a small scale, complete with power, water, and all the other details that make a house a home. I can’t wait to see the finished product, because knowing Jamie it will be nothing short of amazing, but until then if you’d like to follow along with his progress, check out his tiny house blog at http://tinymidwest.com/

Little Hat Model

Ok, I have to shamelessly show off my little beast, who’s modeling the Helga Viking Hat over at TheSkineOfThings on Etsy. If you’ve been hanging around here for a while, you might recognize those photos from Vera’s viking costume last Halloween. She was so little! Love it. :)

Well, that’s it! Have a great night, and I’ll see you tomorrow!
