Christmas and The New Year
By Dawn Sailors In Just DawnHoly smokes, guys. Where did December go? I feel like I took a short blog break and suddenly it’s next year already.
So I guess what I’m saying is sorry about the dormant blog this past month. I promise I’m not quitting and I’ll attempt to do better next year, but hey life happens, right?
(Best Santa picture ever, am I right?)
Really this month has been a challenge for me. This time of year always is. I lost a dear friend in an accident on New Year’s Eve. It was 7 years ago last Friday, and it still gets me. I’ve also been dealing with trying to get my health in check for some time now. My generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) has gotten completely out of control over the past few weeks, landing me in the doctor’s office hooked up to an EKG machine (heart looks fine, thankfully) after a week straight of heart palpitations. So trying to get my medication figured out and my stress levels down is really what has been my focus. I have gotten to a point in my life, after living with anxiety my whole life, and finally being diagnosed with GAD almost three years ago, where I’m mostly comfortable talking about it, but it’s still a tough subject in a lot of ways. So anyway, blogging took a backseat to getting life straightened out, but the holidays came and went, and it was a good rest.
I’m looking forward to a fresh start in the new year. I’ve been busy, and have some fun projects to update you on that may or may not involve painting another counter! There are also a few new things I want to try this year on the old blog. I have some photos in queue that I never got around to blogging about last year that I’d like to catch up on, and I’d like to start sharing a little more of my art and design work here too, especially my lettering projects.
I would also like to get around to taking and posting some updated room shots. Sometimes I buy new things or move items around and don’t really think it warrants a full on blog post but then, a lot of little purchases later, the whole room looks different and I don’t know where to even start, you know? Anyway, it will be a fun year and I can’t wait to get started.
Happy 2016, all!
