Dear June: 10 Month Old Baby
By Dawn Sailors In Dear JuneDear Juniper,
You are 10 months old now, and I can hardly believe you’re closing in on a year. It might be because you still seem so small compared to Vera, or maybe because I’m still nursing you, or maybe it’s just that you still have no hair. Whatever the reason, it seems impossible that you’ve been with us for nearly a year now, but I can hardly remember life before you joined our family.
This past month, the most notable thing going on in your little life is your severe hatred for baths. As soon as your feet hit the water, you start screaming and trying to get out. We’re hoping that with summer in full swing we can start getting you into the swimming pool a few times and maybe that will help you find the fun in playing in the water.
A new skill you’ve mastered is standing and pulling yourself up on anything that is near you. You have eight teeth now, are loving solid food— especially anything you can pick up and hold while you eat it. You enjoy this so much, that if I feed you regular baby food you spit it out into your hand and then put it back in your mouth, just for the thrill of feeding yourself, I guess.
You still love music too, and will dance when you hear it or become completely preoccupied by a singer on television. You’re also starting to really love your sister (when she’s not being too rough with you that is), and she likes to find ‘games’ that the two of you can play together. Anything that makes you smile or laugh, she’ll do over and over again. Currently your favorites are ‘roll ball’ which involves rolling a ball back and forth between you two, and ‘chase’ which consists of your dad flying you around like a super hero while you try to grab for Vera and she runs away from you. She also likes to read books to you, play dolls with you, push you around the house in your stroller, and whatever else she can get you interested in and get mom and dad to agree to.
We love you so much baby girl! You’re such a joy in our lives, and we can’t wait to see what next month brings.
Love, Mom
