Outfit of the Day: Army Greens

I’m hesitating to put these photos out there, even though it’s one of my all-time favorite outfits. Actually, it’s because this is one of my favorite outfits.

I’m completely in love with this old Army jacket. Not only do I think it looks sweet, but it was my dad’s when he was in the Vietnam war, and has so much sentimental value to me. Dad just thinks it’s funny that it actually fits me.

My sister found this jacket when we were in high school, and wore it quite a bit back then. Through college and beyond though, it sat in her closet untouched, and when she asked me to store some clothing for her during their recent home building process, I pulled this gem out of the pile and have been wearing it ever since– despite returning all the rest of the clothing several months ago. She has yet to notice it’s missing, so I’m a tad leery of calling attention to it on the internets, but I’m hoping she’ll see that the jacket needs to be with someone who puts it to good use. (Yes, Dania?? I’ll love you forever!) :) Oh the trials of being a twin and having to share. :(

I realize now I didn’t get a great picture of it, but the button attached to the jacket is an old protest button that belonged to my mom. She collected buttons like this for years, and I saved a lot of them. This one shows a sad face with the words ‘P.O.W.’s NEVER HAVE A NICE DAY” around it.

In other news, I’m officially in maternity pants now and they feel great. Haha. I decided after waiting as long as possible last time that I deserved the elastic waistband right away this time around. I’m actually showing a lot sooner with this babe than I did with Vera, and a lot of things just don’t fit comfortably any more. In fact I even bought about three times the amount of maternity clothing for this pregnancy as I did for my last one (which isn’t saying much since last time was only two pairs of jeans… total), so I’m looking forward to styling some of that over the next few months.
