So you say it’s your birthday…
By Dawn Sailors In Just DawnFirst off, happy 28th to my favorite sister. Dania, I love you and am so thankful for you everyday! And in case you’re new here, Dania’s b-day means today is my birthday too! Yay!
I have to say, 28 feels a little different to me. I feel like it sounds older. And I feel a little older too. Not in a ‘my-arthritis-is flaring-up-again’ kind of way. Although I do have more aches and pains than a normal twenty-something should due to a few too many old sports injuries and some surgeries over the years. (See, don’t I sound old already?) Anyway, I don’t feel old like I feel old. I feel mentally older. I’m in such a different place than I was ten or even five years ago, and I can see it in everything. I have a wonderful husband, a baby I love more than love, a home I get to play with and in everyday, a job I love, and a hobby I love just as much. Life is good.
Today in particular, I’m feeling very happy and excited about life. Things just seem to be pretty great today. Partially because I have a pumpkin cake in the oven. And also partially because HomeGoods opened in Omaha yesterday!! Woo hoo! My friend Hilary and I were standing in line for the grand opening, despite the cold, and we watched the ribbon cutting:
Then we spent the next 2.5 hours shopping! Ok, more like 2 hours shopping, 0.5 hours waiting in line to check out. It was awesome. And I got some fun stuff. Then, since I had today off work for my birthday (did I mention how amazing my job is?), I went back and picked up a few more things that I couldn’t stop thinking about. :)
For my birthday last year, the hub got me a sewing machine that I love, but haven’t actually used yet… whoops. (I promise I will!) So this year, I just got free rein at HomeGoods instead of a wrapped gift. Well that and a piece of Cheesecake Factory cheesecake. It was perfect and exactly what I wanted. Here are a few things I snagged.

I’ll show you where they’re all living next week! It’s exciting! Because besides a little shopping spree and a day off, I also got the hub’s muscles to help with a project I’ve been wanting to tackle for a while, and everything I needed just fell right into place to finally get it done. Ok, here’s a sneak peak, cause I like you and want you to come back and visit again:
Besides all that fun, I also got treated to sushi tonight and had dinner with my Dad and my adopted grandma, Virginia yesterday. So all in all, a pretty awesome b-day week. I certainly can’t complain. :)
