Twin Tuesday: Designing Dania

Dania here.

Although Dawn and I share a love of most things (chocolate, antiques, cats, etc…) our clothing and interior decorating styles vary quite a bit. While she is what I have always referred to as “artsy”, I prefer a more traditional decor. So today, I thought I would share a few of my own home before and after make over photos. I can be crafty when I feel like it. I just usually don’t.

One of the first things we did when we moved into our house (over three years ago) was to paint every white wall…every single wall. Given we have cathedral ceilings in nearly every room but the basement, this was quite the project. Once that was done, we moved on to other projects, such as hanging a new chandelier. The old was gold and much too tiny for the large space above our front entry. Thanks to some home-made scaffolding (don’t try this at home!) and the wiring skills of my father-in-law, we were able to hang this beautiful fixture in a couple of hours.

We also replaced all the gold hardware on our kitchen and bathroom cabinets and sinks with updated brushed nickel finishes.

Of course, I have slowly added to the decor, thanks to my shopping habits.

We have also tackled a few of our own ‘crafty’ projects (such as a makeover of our bedroom furniture), replaced every window in the house, and acquired several antiques I adore. For more on those little projects, check back in two weeks!
